You’ll learn Kali Filipino Martial Arts with two batons and brainstorm what makes a good superhero. Create your own superhero stories, write characters and action scenes, and paint your superhero in watercolor based on your character designs.

About Annie:
Annie Sheng is an Upstate NY-based visual artist who specializes in bold acrylic, gouache and sumi ink paintings, often speculative and narrative in nature. She also works in other mediums, such as ceramics, found object and digital art. She has led art tours as a docent in the Smart Museum of Art in Chicago and have taken classrooms of undergraduate students to the Johnson Museum of Art to engage with artwork in their studies. She received her Ph.D. in Anthropology at Cornell University in 2022 and her paintings reflect her interest in mythology, foodways, the natural world and human connection. Her work has been selected for art grants through Cornell Tech and Cornell Council for the Arts and showcased in community exhibitions in Ithaca. Her art has also been exhibited in an art show in Sendai, Japan. She has led art workshops, live demonstrations and presentations in Japan and New York State.
