Beavers: A Deep Dive with Dave Hall

Join us on Thursday, May 25th at 7:00pm at the Lansing Community Library when Dave Hall will share the skills and techniques from his book, The Naturalist’s Guide: A Field Guide to Observing and Understanding Wildlife, that enabled him to gain a unique perspective on the lives of three special beavers.

After spending hundreds of hours observing his resident beavers, Dave Hall, naturalist and author, has gained unique insight into their daily habits.

This lecture will go well beyond dams, lodges and bark to take a rare look into the lives of three very special beavers, Merle, Apple and Amik. Audience members will learn skills and gain perspectives that can be utilized to enrich experiences with all types of wildlife.

Dave’s latest book, The Naturalist’s Guide: A Field Guide to Observing and Understanding Wildlife, was released in September 2022.

Dave is the founder of Primitive Pursuits, a youth-focused nature awareness program offered in partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County, NY. He has worked as a naturalist and guide in Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York and has served as an instructor with the Adirondack Mountain Club, the State University of New York at Cortland, Cornell Outdoor Education, and Ithaca College. He also is co-author of Winter in the Wilderness: A Field Guide to Primitive Survival Skills. Dave lives in Willseyville, New York, with his family and two dogs.
