October is here, and with it comes crisp air, colorful leaves, and plenty of fall fun at the library! We’ve planned a whole month of engaging story times and special activities perfect for little ones and their caregivers.

We’ll kick things off with Stay & Play—a relaxed, open play session instead of our traditional story time. Children can enjoy our wide selection of toys while caregivers connect with one another.

Next, we’ll celebrate our community heroes with a Firefighter Story Time featuring the Lansing Fire Department! We’ll read stories about firefighters and firetrucks, then meet real firefighters, learn about what they do, and even explore their amazing trucks.

Later in the month, we’ll dive into the beauty of autumn leaves with a reading of Lois Ehlert’s Leaf Man followed by a hands-on activity where kids can create their very own Leaf Man to take home.

Of course, October wouldn’t be complete without apples and pumpkins! At our Apples & Pumpkins STEM Story Time, we’ll enjoy themed stories, songs, and a science-based activity.

We’ll wrap up the month with a Not-So-Scary Monster Story Time. This lighthearted session will feature silly monster tales, dancing, and a craft where kids can design their own lovable googly-eyed monster. Costumes are welcome—so feel free to come dressed up for extra fun!
